The last Renaissance, about 500 years ago, came about as a reaction to the Dark Ages, the most horrible time in the history of Civilization where people were dying by the millions of diseases. The vast majority of people were starving. There were no schools for the average child. There were no jobs other than digging in the mud for a subsistence living.
When the people of the world had simply had enough, they were able to find the energy to stimulate the artists, the architects, the poets, the writers, the songwriters, to provide the greatest innovations the world had known up to that point in time. It is because of the last great Renaissance that we are all here today because finally, people started becoming aware of the ways in which they organized their society. The old system of feudalism, the very rich having absolute power over the rest of the world, the masses of serfs, slaves, and very very poor, was a model that had been tested and failed miserably.
The Renaissance begain producing books, plays, poems, pamphlets about the concept of democracy, created in the Ancient Golden Age of Greece, and long since forgotten over the annals of time. Gradually, the ideas took root and the Great American Revolution was born from that time.
What we have now experienced, in our modern times is our own Dark Ages. We have come through them, somehow by the Grace of God and now the greatest ideas and concepts ever devised by Mankind are being published. Watch for them. Nurture them. Hold them close to your hearts and push for more and more change, start building the Renaissance in your own life. Examine the idea of real political and economic change with your friends. Discuss it at length, think and rethink your own contributions to society and how you can make a difference. Be vigilant in your search for Truth and Beauty and share it amongst yourselves when you have found what you believe to be the greatest truth, the finest examples of beauty and kindness and caring in society.
Gradually, we will all begin to see the daylight. The Renaissance will begin slowly emerging from its cocoon. You will know when the Butterfly of our new life on this planet has begun because the blazing light of it will be blinding and so heartening to your soul, you will not be able to resist it. We are all part of this great change. It is in our DNA, the code of life in the Universe to have these ups and downs, long and painful periods of tortuous self-questioning until finally, a greater truth emerges, an invention is created, a thought is unfolded, a movement is created in which everyone, everywhere is united in the energy of Creation and consciousness.
I believe profoundly that we are on the verge of this 2nd great Renaissance and that this time it will be a distinctly American compendium of Art, Literature, Architecture, Science and Sociology that will lead us out of the Dark Ages of the last 20 to 30 years of despotic, archaic, feudal and futile Mediocracy that strangled nearly everything we thought and did as a people.
The White House Town Hall Meeting based on the Obama ‘Open for Questions’ on the White House Web Site, held today, wherein questions were proposed by ordinary people, voted up to their greatest popularity and then answered by the President of the United States is the first step in this great Renaissance. In this, the greatest Internet tool of Democracy, our greatest thoughts, desires, fears are put out there in the light of common sense examination where all of us can see and hear each other and from this platform, we can help each other understand the greatest consternations of ordinary people, the working people of this nation, the greatest engine of change the world has ever known.
We have unleashed a power today that can solve, not all of our problems, because new ones will always arise from our puny efforts to control our environment, but most of our problems can be examined, solutions provided and a common agreement on those solutions can be found. There is no precedent in the history of the world for a power of the PEOPLE themselves to determine their own destiny in such an open, fair and equitable manner and there can be no doubt of the potential for change and greatness that can pour forth from this fountain of Truth from this day forward.
It is the pinnacle of our million year long Evolution that we have come to this point today where we have held the fire, we have harnessed the wind, we have taken the very grounded nature of thought itself and we place all of our best technology and Science, made it our servant and placed it upon the altar of our great civilization for all to see, feel, taste and share.
Today marks the first day of the New American Renaissance. For a long while, due to the unbelievable Machiavellian actions of George W. Bush, I thought we were on the verge of Revolution. But, it turns out, thanks to the great PLAN that GOD has for us, to be the day of our great Renaissance, not Revolution and we should all be very grateful indeed and we should thank God every chance we get. We should all make this our topmost priority each day when we go out to our jobs, to thank the Creator above for this greatest gift bestowed upon us only at times of our greatest need.
This is such a time. It is the greatest time to be alive to see God’s magnificent plan unfolding. I am hopeful once again. I am hopeful that all of my readers will be hopeful with me.
